Description

If you’re looking to add sensory appeal and beauty to your gardens, late winter into spring the Scentsation Camellia features large, 4 to 5 inch diameter sweetly fragrant and gorgeous peony form flowers with bright lavender-blushed, wavy pink petals and bright-golden stamens peaking out from between. The lustrous dark green foliage provides ornamental value year round. To enjoy the gorgeous flowers indoors display several cuttings in a vase or use just one to float in a bowl of water.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 10 to 12 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide, the Scentsation Camellia can be grown as a large shrub or small tree. As a shrub it is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or as hedge or background plant in landscape borders and is especially nice as a corner plant or espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings. As the plant grows, lower branches can be removed to desired height to form a highly attractive and colorful focal point specimen tree for use in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to cottage gardens, sensory gardens, cut flower gardens or in in woodland gardens and borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors during the winter above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone

Suggested Spacing: 6 to 7 feet apart for solid hedge; 14 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Preferences

Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.

The Camellia I ordered was in a 3 gallon pot. It arrived quickly and in a large cardboard box which was well sealed and the plant was secured really well inside this box. I was extremely pleased with the size, shape and condition of the Camellia bush I had ordered from Wilson Bros. The plant was in very good health and even had small flower buds forming on many of its branches. This company did very good job in all phases of my plant order.
