Description
A 1974 University of Georgia release, Climax has an upright, “open” growth habit and intense green foliage. An early season variety with a very concentrated ripening period makes Climax a great choice for home freezing. It has medium size berries that are light medium-blue, with an excellent, “spicy-sweet” flavor. Along with its consistently heavy yields of very firm berries and small stem scars, Climax is one of the best blueberries for mechanical harvesting / commercial use. However, because it ripens early and flowers early, Climax can potentially be at greater risk for having problems in years with unusually late frosts/freezing.
NOTE: All of our fruit plants are grown in containers outdoors so they are fully rooted and landscape-ready upon arrival.
Growing Preferences
Blueberry plants grow best in an acidic (pH of 4.8 to 5.2), organically rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. The more sun the better for best berry production. The shallow, fibrous roots of blueberry plants like a consistently moist but well-drained soil which can be provided by with a layer of organic mulch. Although blueberries are self-fertile, cross-pollination produces the best fruit crop (larger berries and larger yields). Therefore it is best to plant more than one variety that will bloom at the same time. Blueberry season can be extended by planting early, mid-season and late varieties. Make sure to plant two different cultivars/varieties for each season. USDA Zones: 7b-10b Find Your Zone >

Don’t shop with anyone else for your blueberry plants. Wilson farms will insure that you get good quality plants. Not a twig dipped in rooting hormone.————————————————————We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! Thanks for the kind words and great review! Beth | WBG 🙂
This is one of two I ordered to try out. Both are dormant which is what I want. This plant looks healthy and I was surprised at the size for a one gallon pot. They were packed very well and I got them quickly after ordering. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is I want to see them when not dormant.————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come!
